Concrete Slurry Wastewater Management System allows our customers to take slurry from a Concrete or Stone grinding operation and process it directly and return clean water back to the grinding equipment. Utilizing a Mobile Slurry Treatment Plant to dewater while grinding saves slurry disposal costs by recycling the water back to the grinders.
Concrete slurry dewatering is an inert, nonhazardous byproduct of the diamond grinding and concrete sawing process and separates it into solids and clean, clear water. Slurry typically consists of two components – cooling water and concrete fines brought into suspension during the grinding or sawing process. The water is introduced to the saw blades to increase their life expectancy, decrease dust emission, and increase worker safety. The grinding machines incorporates a vacuum system to collect all the wastewater slurry for management and disposal.
Concrete slurry wastewater management typically offers several manners for disposal. Historically the slurry management solution has been to spread the wastewater along the road side in rural areas that have vegetated slopes. This can lead to environmental concerns and, when not feasible, the slurry is required to be picked up and hauled off site. Also, at no time should the slurry be allowed to enter a closed drainage system or sensitive ecological areas (this is due to the liming effect of the slurry that can result).
When hauled you can take the slurry to a collection and pond decantation area. This results in a closed off area where the slurry is allowed to collect and the solids settle over time. This results in filled ponds with material, however the water is still required to be disposed of typically.
Finally, concrete slurry wastewater collected and hauled to a processing plant in water-tight haul tankers is an option. This requires the operator to take it off the job-site and utilize various plant designs (typically belt presses or centrifuges). The site will be prepared to control any storm water runoff and processed water, and solids that are hauled to landfills or used for secondary products (lime). Traditionally, these remote plants are expensive to operate and require larger projects to support the added costs.
By utilizing a mobile mounted filter press with slurry and clean water tanks, water can be quickly removed from the slurry and result in decrease of 15% moisture solid cakes of material from the slurry. The residual clean water is then piped directly back to the grinding unit. This process allows for 100% control of the slurry product cradle to grave (ROI Calculator). Because the Dewatering Station is mobile, it eliminates site set-up costs, and since they run automatically, there is minimal requirement for personnel to operate them.
